Thailand Day 6 – Leaving Hua Hin into the rain

Day 6 – 5th October 2018

Hua Hin to Ban Rai Kao

We left Hua Hin in the morning and started riding in perfect weather, little did we know what lies ahead….. we have been relying on these two apps – Yr & Weather Live – both of which are not accurate at all. We had great weather for about 20 km’s and it suddenly started pouring down rain. We headed in to a restaurant, had lunch, then coffee, then lunch again and coffee again – it wouldn’t stop pouring down. After some debates / arguments; we decided to just go….

At this point we were completely soaked wet and every car / truck that passed by splashed us to the waist. On the upside it was cool, temperature wise.

There were a ton of stray dogs that would chase Manal for a good 30 meters before they would quit, I think they sensed the fear in her, I was too fast for the dogs and had no fear 🙂

We rode another 35 km’s in the pouring rain and finally made it into Ban Rai Kao. We were about 55 km’s south of Hua Hin and along this stretch there really isn’t much but little towns and not many hotels. It took us about 15 km’s to be able to find one; the ones on google map were not hotels.

When we finally managed to get a hotel using google translate to communicate with random folks on the street; we borrowed a motorcycle from the girl that worked there and went to town for dinner.  The bike clutch and gears were sticking but we managed to get to town and back. We did have a rough dog encounter on the way back when the bike stalled during me shifting gears – I will blame the bike for the staling here 🙂
