Thailand Day 14 – Market Delights

Day 14 – 13th October 2018

Chaiya to Surat thani

Woke up at the beach in this very quiet coast….started cycling and early into the ride we ran into this awesome market that was impossible to resist. Although we had breakfast earlier; we had to try a variety of what was offered there. We got mangos, watermelon juice (one plain / one with condensed milk), noodles with seafood, these round dough things with seafood inside, crab legs and chicken wings. They all were delicious so we bought some extras for the road 🙂

It was like a flea market / eating festival in a park area on the beach to commemorate the passing of the king a couple of years ago. Lots of people were swimming, eating and dancing. It made it difficult to get back on the saddle and go…..

Like yesterday; we rode on Highway 4112 most of the way to Surat thani…. We saw at least 30 dead snakes today; way more than we had seen on the road earlier.

Before Surat thani we stopped for ice cream, ate the remaining leftovers and had a few coffees. One of the coffee shops, as per Manal, looked like one of Lewis Carroll’s fantasy worlds!!

We arrived into Surat thani and cycled straight to a bicycle shop. I tried to install a rack on the front of my bike but it didn’t fit. The number of quality merchandize was indicative of how popular cycling is in this area. We saw at least 30 local cyclists coming into the city…..
