Day 9 – 8th October 2018
Ban Krut to Bang Saphan
We rode an extra 10 kms-ish to see this fishing village, which was lovely. This little village was formed around a port and was out there away from the main drag….certainly worth the detour though !!
We were so hungry we stopped at this spot that was frying stuff on the side of the road. They were frying sweet potato, banana, peanuts and coconut. Man – this stuff was amazing and not just because we were starving. We took an away bag full of that stuff; and of course it went in my bag along with a kilo of banana and a kilo of mango 🙂
The kid in the picture, we also met at this same stand. I do not think he liked me very much, judging by his frown 🙂 he was ready for me to leave him alone while he ate his mango….
Once we arrived at the hotel, we swam and sat down chatting with our neighbors. Our neighbors were a group of twenty Thai folks that were vacationing by the beach with the mother’s husband from Switzerland. The kids gave us crab, rice and sauce; which was delicious.
Overall the day was relatively difficult with lots of hills however the scenery was amazing, ended up with 62 km’s by day end. Look forward to the view tomorrow morning.
We stayed up late at night with the neighbors teaching us Thai words and phrases.
