Thailand Day 2 -Bangkok Street Vendors / Pikachu Girl

Day 2 – 1st October 2018

Bangkok

Woke up and started assembling the bicycles, arranging our bags and getting ready to commence the trip. Many cyclists apparently avoid the highway out of Bangkok due to the number of accidents and we thus will start cycling from the town of Phetchaburi.

We arranged with the hotel to keep our bicycle boxes and the one piece of luggage till our return. We arranged for a ride to Phetchaburi on the 3rd mid-day and plan to get on the bikes the day after.

One challenge, we knew about coming in, is the rain. It’s the end of the monsoon / rainy season here and Thailand / most of SE Asia still get a good two hours of rain per day scattered throughout the day. We look forward to the challenge which will take a little extra planning to avoid the downpours at least.

Being in Bangkok we visited Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) and Wat Pho (Reclining Buddha). The Emerald Buddha was great to see and relaxing to be around. The Reclining Buddha was much more impressive but packed with people, they also made us wear these covers as our arms were showing; I was sweating like a dog the whole time.

Chowed down after the tourist stuff while checking out Kao San road (the backpackers area of the city), I got a manicure / pedicure while Manal got a massage. During the treatment the daughter of the shop was dancing for me and we got to be great friends by the end of it. She is the girl at the bottom of the post with all the poses !!

The highlight of the day for sure goes back to food. The vendors were something today for lunch and early dinner – will let the pictures do the job.

Yalla off to dinner………..
