Thailand Day 1 – Arrival into Bangkok / Dedication to Mohammad Salah

Day 1 – 30th September, 2018

Departed Dubai and landed Bangkok.

At the Dubai check in counter line and while obtaining our boarding passes, people around us and the airline representative asked if we had two TVs wrapped up. Given the guy behind us in the first picture had bed covers, a Duvet, Vaseline, shampoo, etc… it was a fitting question! This provides you an idea of the looks we get rolling around with these two boxes; while hiring taxi, checking into a hotel, walking around the airport, etc… the best was trying to get the airport buggy into an elevator in Bangkok with 8 people waiting and giving us the looks inside it…..my cat-like reflexes got us through with just a few scratches.

Landed in Bangkok at 2200 hrs, dropped our stuff at the hotel and went out to eat / drink. Had three people ask us where we were from that night. Every time as soon as I said Egypt, almost in the same breath – the words – “Mohammad Salah” came out of their mouths!!!! it’s amazing what this guy has done for us and how far it’s gone.

The no Durians allowed with a 2000 Baht penalty was priceless, had to share. Guess its not only smokers that get frowned upon over here, Durian lover are in the same boat!

We saw Hooters outside of the red light district and embarrassing to say, we actually had a few wings there. I know having Hooters wings in Bangkok is ridiculous but we both were dying for a couple. Followed by some grilled liver, hearts, chicken thighs and breast which were delicious. The small grills and the stalls are very reminiscent of Suya stands in Nigeria. The liver actually, like the Nigerian Suya, had some ginger in it!

The stands with the inspects will have to wait for another day.

We are in Bangkok with so many new and exciting highlights; however we must dedicate this post to – Mohammad Salah. His name even sounds awesome in a Thai accent!!!
